About Us

EnfraGen, operating through its subsidiary, EnfraGen Colombia began operations in Colombia in 2019 through the acquisition of the Termoflores power plant which has an installed capacity of 610 megawatts and is located in the city of Barranquilla. In 2021, we added to our portfolio the 241 MW Termovalle power plant, located in Palmira, Valle del Cauca, thus increasing our total installed capacity in Colombia to 851 megawatts. With these assets the company provides reliable back-up power in the predominantly hydroelectric Colombian power system and supports the national grid primarily during the dry season to ensure a secure supply of energy. The company participates actively in the Colombian natural gas market and is a member of the thermal generation group that has access to the international LNG markets through the regasification facility in the city of Cartagena.

Our Business

EnfraGen Colombia’s power plants are necessary to support the Colombian seasonality of supply due to the country’s hydrologic vulnerability.  Our plants are indispensable to the operation and growth of non-conventional renewable power plants, which are intermittent in nature.  Typically, our plants operate in cases of drought, emergencies, or transmission system constraints, thus providing critical support to the national electric grid when it is needed most.  We are an integral part of the diverse matrix of energy suppliers providing secure and reliable energy to the population and industries in Colombia.
