About Us
EnfraGen, operating through its subsidiaries, EnfraGen Chile, has over 1,041 MW of capacity in operation and in construction in geographically diverse locations throughout Chile. The Company entered Chile in 2014 and purchased its first power plant in 2015. EnfraGen Chile’s plants play a critical role in the Chilean power grid by providing fast-reacting reliable backup power and reliable and cost-effective renewable energy generation technology through its solar and run-of-river hydroelectric plants.
Our Business
The Company develops and operates backup power plants, run-of-river hydroelectric plants, and solar plants in the Chilean national grid. Our backup power plants are indispensable to the operation and growth of non-conventional renewable power plants, which by their nature are intermittent. Typically, these plants operate in cases of emergencies, draught, or transmission system constraints, thus providing critical support to the national electric grid when it is needed most. Our hydroelectric and solar plants provide clean, reliable, sustainable energy at a competitive price and are strategically located at various injections points to support Chilean national grid.
Emelda

Installed Capacity: 72 MW
Emelda is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Atacama Region of Northern Chile. It is comprised of two open cycle diesel-fueled combustion turbines and is connected to the Diego de Almagro substation.
Andes Generación

Installed Capacity: 32.5 MW
Andes Generación is a backup thermal power plant, located in the Atacama Region of northern Chile, near the city of Diego de Almagro. It is comprised of 4 Wärstsilä engines totaling 32.5 MW and is connected to the Diego de Almagro substation at 110 kV.
Termopacifico

Installed Capacity: 96 MW
Termopacifico is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Atacama Region of Northern Chile near the city of Copiapó. It is comprised of four identical powerhouses each containing fifteen 1600 kW Perkins diesel engines. The facility has a proprietary 23/220 kV substation which in turn is connected to the Cardones substation.
Pajonales

Installed Capacity: 100 MW
Pajonales is a back-up thermal power located in the Atacama Region of Northern Chile approximately 60 kilometers south of the city of Vallenar. It is comprised of four powerhouses each containing MTU Series 4000 gensets. The facility has a proprietary 23/220 kV substation which is connected to the Don Hector national substation.
Llanos Blancos

Installed Capacity: 150 MW
Llanos Blancos is a back-up thermal located in the Coquimbo Region of Northern Chile near the town of El Peñón. It is comprised of six powerhouses each containing MTU Series 4000 gensets. The facility has a proprietary 23/220 kV substation which is connected to the national grid through the Pan de Azucar – Minera CDA dedicated overhead transmission line.
Combarbalá

Installed Capacity: 75 MW
Combarbalá is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Coquimbo Region of Northern Chile near the city of Combarbalá. It is comprised of three powerhouses each containing MTU Series 4000 gensets. The facility has a proprietary 23/110 kV substation which is connected to the national grid through the Ovalle – Illapel zonal overhead transmission line.
El Faro

Installed Capacity: 3 MW
El Faro is a backup thermal power plant, located in the Coquimbo region of northern Chile, near the city of Los Vilos. It is comprised of 6 engines totaling 3.0 MW and is connected to distribution networks through the Los Vilos feeder of the Quereo substation at 23 kV.
Chagual

Installed Capacity: 100 MW
Chagual is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Coquimbo Region of Northern Chile near the city of Los Vilos. It is comprised of four powerhouses each containing MTU Series 4000 gensets. The facility has a proprietary 23/220 kV substation which is connected to the Los Vilos national substation.
San Javier

Installed Capacity: 50 MW
San Javier is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Maule Region of central Chile near the city of Constitución. It is comprised of two powerhouses each containing MTU Series 4000 gensets. The facility has a proprietary 23/66 kV substation which is connected to the national grid through the San Javier – Constitución zonal overhead transmission line.
Antilhue

Installed Capacity: 91 MW
Antilhue is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Los Rios Region of Southern Chile near the city of Valdivia. The plant is comprised of two open cycle diesel-fueled combustion turbines and is connected to the national grid at the Valdivia 220kV node.
Nueva Degan

Installed Capacity: 50 MW
Nueva Degan is a back-up thermal power plant located in the Los Lagos Region of Southern Chile on the island of Chiloe. It is comprised of five powerhouses or varying capacities with a total of 39 diesel gensets ranging in capacities from 1000kW to 1600kW. The facility connects at 23kV to the Degan substation which in turn is connected to the Chiloe substation.
La Arena

Installed Capacity: 6.8 MW
La Arena is a run-of-river hydroelectric power plant located in the Los Lagos region in Chile. It falls under Chile’s PMGD (“Pequeños Medios de Generación Distribuidos“) Stabilized Price regulations regime.
Cuchildeo

Leadership
Jose Arosa
CEO
Mr. Arosa has over 21 years of experience in various business development and M&A leadership roles in the energy industry. He currently serves as CEO of EnfraGen Chile and Executive Vice President of Development & Commercial for EnfraGen Chile’s parent company, EnfraGen. Prior to joining EnfraGen Chile in 2021, Jose was president and CEO of AES Mexico, where he was responsible for overseeing the operating portfolio in Mexico and developing the growth strategy for EnerAB, a joint venture with Grupo BAL focused on clean energy projects. Throughout his career, Arosa has worked in various countries and held leadership positions in companies such as Inkia and Saavi. His roles have involved leading entry strategies into new markets, managing business development teams, and driving growth initiatives. Jose holds a BS and MS in chemical engineering from Universidad Alfonso X El Sabio, and an MBA from Virginia Darden School of Business.
Patricio Andrade
Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Andrade joined EnfraGen Chile as CFO in 2022 and is member of the company´s management team. In this role, he is responsible for leading EnfraGen Chile financial activities and organization, including Controllership & Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Procurement and Financial Planning & Analysis. Mr. Andrade brings over 22 years of experience building and leading finance teams in global listed companies in Mining & Metals, Chemical, Automotive and Construction sectors across South America. Prior to joining EnfraGen Chile, Patricio served as Finance Director at Metso Outotec managing Finance teams in Chile, Peru and Brazil. Previously, Patricio was based in São Paulo, Brazil for 12 years and held senior Finance positions at American companies’ 20th Century Fox and Celanese Corporation and British firm Pilkington. Patricio holds a Business Administration degree and a minor in Economics and Finance from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and an Executive MBA from University of São Paulo (FIA USP), Brazil.
